A group of cosmetic surgeons in the U.S. recently observed that there is an increase in elderly whose age is 65 or older who are undergoing cosmetic surgery, an article of Financial Review reported on November 3.
In the records of data from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, procedures including facelifts and eyelid surgeries that have been done to people older than 65 have doubled in the last 20 years. Last year alone, there were 37,632 patients older than 65 who have undergone facelift procedures and 39,772 patients of the same age bracket undergone eyelid surgery. The report noted that factors like economic, cultural, and some TV shows trigger such trend. Some experts, on the other hand, opined that older people tend to undergo cosmetic surgery procedures to avoid being a victim of age discrimination.
