Technology reduces risk in cosmetic surgeries

Cosmetic surgery procedures now employ advanced technology to help get results, a July 13 article of CCTV America reported. Surgery is becoming more appealing for many Americans, since worrisome risks are continuing to decline.

Researchers at the Center of Excellence in Nanomedicine and Engineering in San Diego even discovered a non-surgical procedure to extract unwanted body fats. Director of the center, Adah Almutairi, invented the Nanolipo procedure from the cancer treatments with which they experimented. Unlike traditional liposuction procedure, a solution of gold nanoparticles is intravenously introduced to target a body part. Surgeons then apply heat to help the gold particles to dissolve fat. Once the fat dissolves, doctors extract it from the body. Nanolipo, if approved, has much lower associated risks than liposuction, since nanolipo does not damage nerves and tissues. Almutairi’s group is hopeful that their discovery will become available in the market after three years.

As new cosmetic surgery technology is under development, there are other procedures that can remove unwanted body fats.
